Gutemberg Dos Santos and Cafu: Leaders who

change lives.

In July 2002, after winning the Football World Championship final, Marcos Evangelista de Moraes, Cafu, lifted the World Cup with both arms and a smile, he had labeled a phrase on his shirt so the whole planet could read, and it said: “100% Jardim Irene “.

Jardim Irene is one of the poorest and most violent neighborhoods in the city of São Paulo. It is placed between the three most dangerous of the city, nevertheless, the district became different when Cafu lifted the Cup, becoming the miracle and source of inspiration of Jadim Irene. Years later Gutemberg Dos Santos specialist in digital economy and promoter of blockchain technology; and Cafú crossed their paths coinciding in many ideologies of life, because Dos Santos always reaffirms: Be the first among equals, a precept that Captain Cafu followed. Undoubtedly, this idol managed to break the ideological barrier of the people who live in the most marginalized communities of Brazil.

The main undeniable characteristic of Cafú is his willpower. Being a native of the peripheral areas of the city, where they have nothing to lose, the player thus refers to failure:

Failure is a luxury that only the rich can afford.

Cafú

Gutemberg Dos Santos highlights this way of thinking by commenting:

“Barriers exist only in your thinking, and if there are, they are called prejudices. In the head of Cafú there was only the idea of having a ball to play, and when it is over, he wanted another to continue his dreaming. His goal was clear, play all his life and stand out at it, despite the several rejections he got from various teams. The negatives in his life earned him the desire to be bigger, until he managed to be in the best teams in the world. Desires also have no limits, if you want to achieve something, fight for it every day, without seeing obstacles. The stones in the road become experiences that make you stronger and reaffirm your convictions. “

When you achieve this level of thinking, you are ready to be a good leader. The simplicity, technique, responsibility, discipline and conviction, led Cafú to be a great leader. He led great teams to obtain championships, all thanks to his great technique, communication, empathy and perseverance.

Dos Santos, being originally from Brazil, remembers the great moments he experienced when Cafu achieved so many triumphs.

Captain Cafu is a great inspiration to many, particularly for me. Now that life has reunited us, we have undertaken some projects together since we both agree on how pleasant it is to transform the lives of others.

Cafu has managed to touch the hearts of many, but the most significant thing is that he has also transformed the vision of thousands of people. Gutemberg Dos Santos commented that Cafu has become a figure of triumph and symbol of struggle and perseverance.

A leader is also described as being able to change and transform himself. You cannot consider yourself a leader if you are not capable of transforming the context of others, through your commitment and responsibility to be able to guide them and motivate them to pursue success .”

From the experience that Gutemberg Dos Santos has accumulated in the business sector and Cafú in sports, we have compiled some qualities that both leaders have put into practice for

their lives.

Responsibility. I must be responsible from the moment I want to get something. My responsibility towards others leads me to be a more aware person of what I want.

Commitment. The commitment I have with myself and my team is to proactively influence the people around me to set common goals that will lead us all to achieve success

Discipline. I must not give up even in the most difficult moments. Everything is learning, no matter how hard things may appear. If my goal is clear, even if I stumble, I will be strong enough to continue.

Humility. To know how to listen and be humble enough to accept my mistakes, I consider others opinions as tips that nourish me with knowledge and learning.

Effective communication. It helps me to listen and be heard, so he assured me of being in tune, to walk towards the same course.

Desire to transform. The essential part of a good leader is to have the desire to positively transform the lives of others. But also be flexible to allow us to transform ourselves at the right time to keep growing.
